With many in our global community beginning a new school year soon, we are excited to share some helpful new Flip features that started rolling out this week as well as a brand-new Educator Toolkit with new templates and downloads that make it easy to bring the magic of Flip to others!
All of our product updates are driven by you, so thank you for continuing to share your feedback, stories, and great ideas with us! Here’s what’s new on Flip, starting in July.
First, setting up Flip for your classroom has never been easier thanks to our new integration with Schoology and updates that make it easier to add co-leads to your classroom group.
- That’s right, Flip is now compatible with Schoology! In addition to our Canvas and Google Classroom integration, district IT leaders will now have the ability to add Flip into Schoology to make it easy for students to locate Flip and log in.
- And because teaching is a team sport, we’ve made it even easier for others to join as a Co-Lead to help manage your classroom group!
We’ve also added a number of helpful time savers to Flip like Response Table View, Topic Copilot, bulk actions, Topic analytics and easier sorting for past topics.
- The response table enables you to see which students have responded to your topics at a glance when they submitted, the number of comments on responses, and provide you with enhanced sorting options.
- Topic Copilot now generates topic suggestions and topic descriptions you can use to prompt classroom discussions.
- New topic analytics (coming this fall) will help you quickly assess and support learner engagement.
- When members send videos or comments in response to your topics, you can activate, hide, or delete them. On web, you can select multiple or all video responses to take these actions with one click. Learn how on our Help Center.
- And when you want to review your past topics, it’s now easier than ever to pin them for easy reference.
Plus, we’re giving you and your students new ways to interact and engage in the app and channel their creativity in the Flip camera.
- Now, use threaded comments to share instant feedback.
- With topic setting control, you can also give students the ability to create their own topics, empowering them to develop their leadership skills and support peer-to-peer learning discussions.
- New features like new lenses, clip muting and smart stickers powered by Bing can help you encourage more student expression in the camera.
- We've made it even easier for camera shy students to express themselves with more audio styles in Audio Mode and an endless canvas for graphics and text in Create Mode.
- A few months ago, we made it possible for you to add or edit your effects at any time in your video, and we're bringing it to the web camera, along with the ability to add voiceovers this fall!
And finally, we remain committed to ensure Flip is always a safe, accessible and inclusive learning space, which is why we’ve added three new languages, and a new Trust and Safety center full of helpful information about our data handling and moderation policies.
- Localization in new languages is a key priority for our team to continue to support our growing global community and this month, we’re excited to share that in addition to Spanish, you can now experience Flip in French, French Canadian, Portuguese and Japanese!
- We’re proud to share that Flip was recently just awarded two accessibility gold medals within Microsoft for our commitments to ensure Flip and the Flip camera are accessible to all.
- And as always, you can count on Flip to be a positive learning platform that is 100% safe and secure with 24x7 moderation of all media, real-time scanning of text prior to submission to prevent student missteps and community reporting mechanisms and responsible use notifications if a misstep occurs. Learn more in our newly updated Trust and Safety Center and check out our new downloadable documents to share Flip with your IT leaders or classroom families!
Every time we add new features, we look forward to your feedback so please jump in, try out the new features, and let us know what you think using the product feedback tool.
